Michael P. Lange Talks About the Importance of Antioxidants in Helping
to Stop Free Radical Damage in the Eyes and Body The majority of us are fairly concerned about eating the proper foods to help maximize our health. If patients would become more proactive in their health and follow a specific diet, exercise and supplementation routine we would see much less eye disease and systemic disease. However many of the foods we are currently eating are stripped of their nutritional value and are infused with dyes, chemicals, antibiotics, preservatives, hormones and toxins. Many of these man made additives are creating more free radical damage in our bodies. A free radical is a molecule with a missing or unpaired electron in its outer shell. Free radicals are unstable and highly reactive, they react quickly and try to steal electrons from the nearest stable molecule thus creating another free radical and a free radical cascade. This process is called oxidative stress or oxidative damage. The final result is the death of the cell. Evidence is accumulating that many degenerative diseases of the body and the eye originate as a result of free radical reactions.
Antioxidants, also known as “free Radical scavengers,”
neutralize unstable free radicals by donating one of their own
electrons. This stabilizes New science now suggests that diets rich in antioxidants from whole foods and supplements may be effective at preventing and slowing down degenerative diseases of the body and eyes. ORAC, (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is a laboratory measurement of the antioxidant power of a particular food developed by the National Institute on Aging. There may be a correlation between foods that have a high ORAC value and less free radical damage. Studies done at Jean Mayer USDA Human Research Center on Aging at Tufts University suggests that consuming fruits and vegetables with a high ORAC value may help slow down the aging process in the body and brain. It is very difficult to find the proper foods that have a high enough ORAC value to combat against free radical damage. Fortifeye Vitamins are making it easy for the majority of people that are not eating properly. Fortifeye Vitamins are embracing the latest science on free radical damage, antioxidant therapy and ORAC research. Fortifeye is using this science combined with intracellular blood tests (Spectracell labs) to maximize cellular absorption of each Fortifeye product. Fortifeye is constantly involved in research to enhance the bio availability and overall antioxidant power of the Fortifeye line of supplements. Fortifeye routinely updates their formulas based on both national research and ongoing in house research. Fortifeye is affiliated with multiple eye care centers that are actively involved in clinical research for the advancement in science based nutrition for ocular and overall health. Dr. Michael Lange of Lange Eye Care and Associates is Chief Investigator for the Fortifeye Vitamin Company. Lange Eye Care and The Lange Eye Institute are doing on going studies utilizing the Fortifeye Vitamins in an effort to constantly improve the bio availability and the free radical quenching abilities of these products. Current nutritional experts are recommending the consumption of 10-13 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. This can be a very difficult task for the majority of people in society today. Fortifeye Complete vitamins have an antioxidant profile much higher than these current recommendations. The latest and most advanced formulations Fortifeye has developed are called Fortifeye Complete Plus and Fortifeye Complete Macular Defense. These two products have some of the highest ORAC scores per serving in the industry. The Fortifeye Complete Plus has an ORAC score of close to 8500 which is equivalent to 10-12 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Fortifeye Complete Macular Defense has an incredible ORAC score of close to 13,000 per serving which is equivalent to 15-17 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. These nutraceuticals have been shown to raise total antioxidant functioning significantly in patients lymphocytes. A large number of patients that may think they are eating correctly and taking multiple vitamins still have a deficient antioxidant status that decreases their ability to resist oxidative stress. A deficient antioxidant status may be a result of lack of intake of the proper foods or supplements, lack of absorption of antioxidants, over production or exposure to free radicals and /or oxidative events or a combination of these. Fortifeye Vitamins is continuously involved in research that incorporates life style changes, dietary changes and supplementation to improve antioxidant status and help slow down the oxidative cascade in the body. There is growing evidence that this may help with total body and ocular health. Fortifeye Complete Plus and Fortifeye Complete Macular Defense were developed and fine tuned over a four year period utilizing feedback from patients and doctors combined with clinical research using the latest in blood testing and comprehensive eye examinations. The entire line of Fortifeye Vitamins will continuously be updated based on ongoing research. Fortifeye Complete Vitamins are a synergistic blend of phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and omega three essential fatty acids all in convenient packets. Fortifeye Vitamins are all natural without the use of any dyes or trans fats. Eat for your health and add Fortifeye to your daily diet to insure you are getting all the antioxidants necessary to combat against free radical damage and disease.
